Summary

The new farm bill did not fundamentally change the U.S. crop insurance program, but in many ways, the context has changed. Lower prices, ad hoc government programs, and trade wars have dominated the scene in 2019. Producers are encouraged to evaluate farm program options and crop insurance choices for the 2020 crop year.
