This presentation will help consultants, growers, and other practitioners in the Mid-Southern U.S. manage tarnished plant bug, the most important insect pest of cotton in this region. A brief description of how the biology and ecology of tarnished plant bug impacts its pest status in cotton is discussed. Cultural and insecticidal control strategies are discussed. By the end of this presentation, the practitioner should have a better understanding of the challenges of managing insecticide resistant tarnished plant bugs in cotton and be able to effectively design an insecticide rotation strategy to minimize their impacts on yield.
