Giant ragweed is one of the most problematic weeds in the soybean producing areas of the US. Yield losses can approach 100% and development of populations that are resistant to ALS (Group 2), glyphosate (Group 9), and PPO (Group 14) herbicides have created additional challenges for minimizing the yield loss capability of this weed. This presentation will discuss various control methods for minimizing yield losses and weed seed production. It will highlight the importance of proper burndown herbicide selection, postemergence application timing, and the integration of burndown, residual, and postemergence herbicides for effective season-long control.
