Summary

​The purpose of this presentation is to help you manage soybean aphid cost-effectively through scouting and the use of treatment thresholds. It begins with some basic information about soybean aphid biology, reviews why scouting and thresholds are important, and then gives guidelines on when and how to scout for aphids. A few additional tools to complement your soybean aphid scouting program are also highlighted.

About the Presenter

Kelley J. TilmonKelley J. Tilmon is the research and extension entomologist for soybean and other legumes at South Dakota State University. She received her MS in Entomology from the University of Delaware and a PhD in Entomology from Cornell University. She conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison before joining the faculty of South Dakota State University. Dr. Tilmon’s research and extension focus is the integrated pest management, biological control, and ecology of the insect pests of soybean. Dr. Tilmon also heads the Great Plains IPM Working Group of the North Central IPM Program.​
